- 4) Bin work: Abigail (Saxon math, reading, and spelling) Breanna (writing her name, letters, and numbers)
- 5) Group Activity (science, art/cooking, math, or an outing)

Language Arts Using Tradebooks
Each week I pick a childrens picture book (a "tradebook"). On the first day, we read the story and then do a "story map". We make a poster of the title, author, characters, problem, and solution of the story. Throughout the week we do activities based on the book. By the end of the week, the children know the story so well they can "read" it themselves. This is a very effective way to teach a variety of skills. . . and it is SO much fun!

Math
For Math with Abigail I am using Saxon Math 1. We LOVE it!
Reading
After learning the letters, we learn the sounds that each letter makes. Then it is on to word parts. . . so the children have the tools to read anything they want! I use the Ringbound Reading program and supplement with a variety of other activities. Learning to read can be so much fun! Just take it slow, and pick books your child is iterested in. Most importantly, READ to your child. Show them how much fun reading can be!
